WordCamp London 2016, what a blast!, it’s getting better and better as the years progress.

This years WordCamp was again hosted by the London Metropolitan University. The programme was well thought out in the sense that, there was a great mix of fun, educational sessions combined with panels and plenty of time in between each sessions for networking.

Day 1

Some of the standout sessions from day one were:

“Hacked off: Dealing with a hacked WordPress site” presented brilliantly by Tim Nash.

Another of the highlights of day one was the after party. The atmosphere was ideal for the WordPress community to mingle, meet fellow WordPress enthusiasts and form new friendships and renew old ones. The feature that made the after party even more special was the retro video games, which brought fond childhood memories for some attendees. But, the standout feature of the day without a shadow of a doubt was the food. Those pies that were served at dinner was exquisite!

That was just day one!

DAY 2

The programme for day two was slightly shorter, with only six sessions compared to seven from day one, with an early finish at twenty past four to accommodate people who had work on Monday morning.

To conclude, WordCamp 2016 was a massive success thanks mainly to the organisers and the volunteers who did a stellar job. Also, one of standout features from this year’s event was all the sessions were transcribed into text – in real time by a stenographer. It’s a great idea and it means that if someone didn’t catch something important or simply couldn’t clearly hear what was said – you could easily read the streaming text from the moment before. Also, every session was filmed via a video camera allowing people to catch up with sessions they missed or revisit them.

All in all, it was a fabulous, fun-filled and educational weekend in London for all the attendees and we look forward to seeing everyone again in 2017!
